When selecting your Vang-Master, there are two primary considerations:
1 The length of the boom (Longer or heavier booms require more pneumatic support from the vang. If your boom is long or heavy for the size boat, select the vang with a greater capacity).
2 The weight of a fully battened mainsail (if applicable). Fully battened mainsails weigh more than conventional mains. If your main is fully battened, select the vang with greater capacity.
You'll notice that some of the categories overlap. In essence, these categories accommodate sailboats with longer/heavier booms, fully battened mainsails or simply the owner's requirements for more pneumatic lifting force.
